What HEPA Could Mean For Your Health And Home

If you or someone in your family suffers from asthma or allergies, you may think that all you can do is suffer. Not true. You can improve your indoor air quality with HEPA filters in your home. HEPA filters are so good that they can filter out particles that are a mere .03 microns thick, and therefore can filter out 99.999 percent of the gunk in your air. What that means is that there is less particles in the air you breathe and more clean air.

How HEPA Works High-efficiency particulate air or HEPA filtration, is a mechanical air filter that screens out dust, dust mites, pollen, and dander from your air. It will even screen out bacteria. It won’t screen out gases or particulates smaller than .03 microns, but it’s one of the best filters out there for cleaning the air. HEPA’s Secret HEPA filters use fiberglass strands woven tightly together that catch particulates. They’re so effective at filtering out pollutants in your air that HEPA is considered the standard for air filters. You can use a HEPA filtration unit in your home HVAC provided that the furnace and air conditioning is built to work with it.
