Walter "Sonny" Telford

As a 1974 graduate from Delcastle Votech and a 1979 graduate from the State of Delaware Apprenticeship Program, Mr. Telford began his experience in the trades as a pipefitter in 1975. With years of hands-on field experience as a pipe fitter in the fire protection industry working at DuPont, Chrysler Auto Plant, and other major companies in the Delaware region. Mr. Telford joined Wayman Fire Protection in 1979 where after working his way up through the field, he began his migration into sales and marketing and by 1996 became the Vice President of Sales and Operations. With a real gift for salesmanship and a clear vision of what customers want, Mr. Telford partnered with Ben Biggs, John Sobieski & Rob Sobieski to start Radius Services LLC in 1998 to provide design/build fire suppression systems to the Mid-Atlantic region. This soon led to the creation of a second company, Radius Technologies LLC, providing additional revenue streams coming from the installation, inspection and maintenance of fire alarm and security systems. Having spun off Radius Services from the S&R Group at the end of 2008, Mr. Telford is now responsible for running the new non-union Sobieski Fire Protection LLC in addition to Radius Technologies. Mr. Telford has been an active member of the ABC of Delaware since 1980 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2003; and as a member of the PHCC since 1980 where he held seats on the Membership Committee and the Legislation Committee, served on the Board of Directors for twelve years and was elected President in 1994.
