John F. Sobieski, III

After graduating Delcastle Vo-Tech as a plumbing student, Mr. Sobieski began his career in the trade by serving a 4-year apprenticeship program through the State of Delaware, later expanding his technical abilities by attending Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute for refrigeration and HVAC studies. By the age of 21, Mr. Sobieski had quickly advanced to a project supervisor position with one of the largest mechanical contractors in Delaware, during which he supervised the 1983 General Motors assembly plant renovation, one of the largest mechanical projects in Delaware. Gaining valuable, hands-on experience and having acquired his Master Plumber’s license, Mr. Sobieski ventured out on his own in 1986. With a humble beginning as a one-man, one-truck-and-a-shed operation, Mr. Sobieski eventually grew his company into a 300+ employee enterprise grossing over $40 million in revenues with operations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington DC.

Always an advocate of progressive thinking, Mr. Sobieski has attended over 100 training and education classes, ranging from mechanical engineering to business management, and has continuously held plumbing and HVACR mechanical licenses for all jurisdictions in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Mr. Sobieski has served as chairperson for the Partners In Safety (PINS) committee, collaboration between the DuPont companies, local contractors, and Del- Tech Community College formed to create safety training programs, which has provided training for over 30,000 individuals to date. Mr. Sobieski has enthusiastically devoted countless hours in the promotion of student development and interest in the construction industry by employing co-op students and leading student field tours, as well as reviving the Apprenticeship Plumbing Competition in 1996 and, while serving as President of the PHCC local Delaware chapter, leading the implementation of the Apprentice Recognition Night. With 32 years experience, Mr. Sobieski has not only built a strong technical background in bidding, designing, coordinating, installing, and servicing the smallest residential call to the largest, multi-million dollar commercial and institutional projects, but has also cultivated the integrity, dedication, and forward-thinking necessary to be a consistent leader in today’s construction industry.
