Our Award-Winning Safety Programs
J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc., in addition to being the largest mechanical contractor in Delaware, is also one of the safest mechanical contractors in the mid-Atlantic region. We don’t just talk about safety, we live and breathe it. We employ a full-time Safety Department who provide in-house safety training, conduct field audits, provide professional accident investigation and ensure full OSHA compliance. All of our field employees, in addition to having full background and criminal checks, are required to have their OSHA 10-Hour certification and attend a Defensive Driver course. They are also provided with annual four-hour OSHA refresher courses.
Sobieski Mechanical is committed to providing a drug free workplace and, as such, we employ a mandatory pre-employment, random, and for-cause drug testing program. Additionally we have a security program of performing independent background checks on employees consistent with the requirements of our corporate customers.
Our Executive Safety Committee is made up of our owners, division managers, field superintendents, safety personnel, human resources and other executive management. This committee meets bi-weekly to review the results of our field safety audits, discuss emerging safety issues, and evaluate the overall effectiveness and performance of our safety programs.
The ABC STEP (Safety, Training and Evaluation Process) program recognizes contractors on an annual basis for company-wide safety performance at various levels. Platinum level members, such as J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, have demonstrated the highest safety standards exemplifying the best safety practices and a proven track record for outstanding safety programs and performance. We’re proud to be recognized by our industry peers as the company that helps set standards for safety.
